One of the best stories I can tell about the building process dates back to the raising of the roof beam. The summer our house was built I came by every day and watched from across the street. Because our house is one and a half stories, there are rooms in the center of the upstairs, thus no pre-made trusses could be used. When the carpenters were setting the top beam, the guy with a level at one end shouted to his partner at the other end, "Its just about an eighth of an inch off; it's okay." His buddy replied, "It can't be an eighth of an inch off. It's a Bussing job!"
